The songs we cry by Prisca Woedem Abodakpi
Sometimes I wonder
If life itself is worth
The struggle pain and hustle
And all else it entails
Why do we meet people
Get to know them
Love them and
They disappear too soon
Why does life itself
Have to be a candle in the wind
Or an egg out of a crate
That we have to hold in fear
Why do we have to live in the fear
Of whether or not we would behold
And live the light and blessing of tomorrow?
Why do we have to ask why?
Why does life have to be a bed
Of roses for some and a
Garden of thorns that breeds
Pain and tears of torment
For those who see its pleasure, they say
Since forever isn’t forever
Let's just vibe till whenever
What about those who strive?
What song shall they sing?
To what tune do they dance?
To the many phases of life
Surely comes many characters.
